The Jackass Free Experiment - nomoon - 08-21-2012 05:14 AM Welcome to Jackass Free Politics! You are welcome to leave comments or suggestions in this thread. This is an experimental forum to see if it’s possible to have polite, non-combative political discussions, while remaining productive and entertaining. Will the restrictions prove to be too stifling? We’ll see. I'd love to hear your feedback. RE: The Jackass Free Experiment - Fro - 08-21-2012 01:41 PM Wow. Human nature on display. Let's see what comes of it. RE: The Jackass Free Experiment - Fro - 08-21-2012 11:23 PM I kind of like the jackass people. They are entertaining. And show ignorance along with their prejudices in sometimes very humorous humiliation. However there is a need to be apart from them. So I accept your effort and welcome. Fro RE: The Jackass Free Experiment - noadmin57 - 08-21-2012 11:45 PM Thanks, I do understand and appreciate the entertainment value as well. I also understand that often, the best method to understand something is to seek out more information from sources that already seem to make sense. If I want to understand more about earthquakes, I'd read up on mainstream science sources that I trust, rather than studying what I consider to be crackpot theories. With issues like economics and politics, I also think that it makes sense to seek out sources that I trust, but I risk confirmation bias if I don't try to understand some of the competing theories. Even if the competing theories REALLY are crackpot theories, it's really a good idea to fully understand them anyway, especially the ones that have a significant number of followers. There is an interesting divergence of very strong opinions among very intelligent people when it comes to politics. I think that more non-combative discussion about these topics would be a good thing for society. The other concept thing that I'm hoping to promote here, is to have a place where ideas win on their own merits, and not on the skills of the debater. We'll see. I'm hoping that we can get a critical mass of posting activity on the forum to keep this thing going. RE: The Jackass Free Experiment - nomoon - 08-22-2012 01:00 AM Everyone, please feel free to start your own topics! |
